National director for athletes in Action Zimbabwe
As national director for athletes in Action Zimbabwe, we help give leadership in the Athletes in Action Africa council responsible for English speaking countries.
Now, working together with like-minded churches and mission organizations, we are trusting God to use us to help pioneer and accelerate sports movements across Africa, Launch sports movement in the seven of the ten provinces of Zimbabwe and build holistic spiritual movements in the capital city where we live and give leadership to our province.
Equipping our Fellow Missionaries
In our ministry, missionaries are expected to gather a team thatcan fund the work that God has called them to do. It is therefore one of our responsibilities to equip our fellow missionaries on how they can raise financial support.
We encourage them to have faith a they work hard towards raising their support pointing to our training verse:
“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
– Proverbs 21:31

Church Sports Movement Trainings i in Côte d'Ivoire
We were privileged to be part of a remarkable Church Sports Movement Training in Côted’Ivoire, I (Tafadzwa Maramba), the Director ofInsport Silas Ngong, and the Athletes in ActionAfrica Director Chris Chinyati. The purpose of this meeting was to empower churches to use sport as leverage for reaching out totheir communities with the Gospel.
A good turnout of 51 individuals attended the4-day training which proved to be a fruitfulcollaboration of church and sports
After the training, the local team took the initiative of engaging with a school that had requested its students to be trained after acknowledging the value it could bring to the school.
The joys of hosting a mission team
Doors that could not be easily opened where opened. 990 people exposed to the gospel and 124 gave their lives to Christ in just a week.
Friends who love basketball and love the Lord from USA came for just a week to be together with us in the trenches of Africa reaching with the love of Jesus using basketball as a tool.
We saw the impact in our communities as some young kids who have never bounced a ball in their life would do it for the first time and at the same time hearing a clear gospel presentation for the first time. They gave their lives to Christ with great excitement.
Leadership Trainings
Growing local sustainable leadership will continue to be the core of our effort to see multiplication in the sport movement.
The Lord has allowed us to see a few of our disciples growing from volunteering in sports programs to joining staff with Athletes in Action. This is not an easy decision in our environment, it really takes God’s calling and one’s commitment to respond to this great commission call and entails a high level of commitment in our context.
We continue to celebrate our volunteers and associates championing sports movements across our nation. Winning others to Christ, building each other in knowing Jesus and sending them to win others
Soccer The Most Popular Sport in Africa
In Africa soccer can be played at different levels giving a wide range of different resourcing to it. In normal instances there is need for a proper sports facility but in many instances, you need an open space and a ball with participants hungry to compete and before you know it soccer happens.
The opportunity here is not only that participants are hungry to play soccer, but they are also hungry for food, resources and for the gospel.
They come to play sport, sometimes eat something but above all they grow to love the Lord and are excited to read the bible and share their faith.
